International Concrete Dragon Boat Competition (ICDBC) is a multidisciplinary competition for undergraduate students, which is featured by professionalism, sportsmanship and entertainment., which was initiated by Zhejiang University in 2019. Under the guidance of Engineering Education committee of China association for Higher Education and the National Administry Committee on Teaching Civil Engineering to Majors in Higher Education under The Ministry of Education, the competition was organized by International Concrete Dragon Boat Competition Technical Committee, and was authorized by American Concrete Institute (ACI) and other relevant academic and industrial organizations.
ICDBC has been held for five times, of which the first four were held in Haining Campus of Zhejiang University, and the fifth was organized by Central South University. In this year, the 6th International Concrete Dragon Boat Competition (ICDBC-2024) will be hosted by Tianjin University.
Themed with ‘Sailing on the Waves, Steady and Forward’, ICDBC-2024 will be held in the Experimental Center of National Facility for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NFEES), Peiyang Campus of Tianjin University before the 2024 Dragon Boat Festival. By completing material design, aesthetic and cultural design, structural design, power and control system design, and model fabrication, the participating teams are expected to make a maneuverable concrete dragon boat, and displayed their works in various ways.
ICDBC-2024 will continue to inherit the excellent traditions of previous events, attaching importance to the literariness and aesthetics of dragon boat design concepts, leading students to pay attention to traditional Chinese culture, to enhance their aesthetic and humanistic nature, and to strengthen their cultural self-confidence; Meanwhile, ICDBC-2024 continuously introduces innovations to the competition. Based on the support of NFEES, artificial wave will be brought into the competition, and a round-trip route instead of single way route will be settled in the straight-line race. Adoption of new building materials and advanced construction technology are specially welcomed. Through the competition, it is expected to facilitate the cultivation of college students’ spirit of “creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity”, teamwork and innovative engineering design ability, and help improve the quality of practical education and innovative talents training for Higher Education.

Eligibility
Participants should be full-time undergraduates. A team may register with 3~5 undergraduate students under the supervision of 1~2 instructors. Up to two teams are allowed to register for a single university. Teams which do not turn up will be disqualified automatically. No substitutions shall be permitted.
